Hawzah News Agency (Karachi, Pakistan) - Protestors in rallies chanted anti US and anti-Zionist regime slogans while they also torched their flags along with burning the effigies of Donald Trump.
In Karachi, the Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Tanzeem-e-Islami and Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) took out rallies against the US move.
In the federal capital, MWM, Jamaat-e-Islami and lawyers protested while a protest was also held in Rawlapindi.
In Lahore, Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) took out a protest at the US Consulate, situated near the Press Club. Similarly, lawyers' bodies also protested in Lahore.
In Peshawar, the Difa-e-Pakistan Council, an amalgamation of religious parties, carried out protest outside the Peshawar Press Club while the JI also protested in different parts of city.
Meanwhile protests were also held in other cities of Pakistan.
Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Siraj-ul-Haq said that Trump’s statement added fuel to the fire and that he has also put international peace at stake. The senator further requested all Muslim leaders to unanimously stand against the Trump’s plan.
The roads leading to American Consulate have been blocked by placing containers whereas strict security measurements have also been ensured to avoid any untoward situation.
Pakistan has condemned the US move and urged the United States to revisit its decision as soon as possible in order to avoid the potentially grave repercussions in the region and beyond.
